Friesen Fire won the Risen Star Stakes on Saturday at the Fair Grounds, and will run next in the Louisiana Derby with an eye to the Kentucky Derby. The Risen Star is the final local prep race for the Louisiana Derby on March 14.

Friesan Fire is owned by Rick Porter’s Fox Hill Farm and Vinery Stables and adds $120,000 to his bankroll, which totals $243,265. The three-year-old has won both of his 2009 starts and is 3-for-6 in his career.

Friesan Fire returned $7.60, $4.60 and $3.40. Flying Pegasus paid $8.80 and $6.20, and Uno Mas paid $7.20 to show.
